I so enjoyed our ride the other day, I wanted to ride again today.  After I dropped the little ones off at school, I asked Flat Boyd, (while I was filling my water bottle, because he resides on our fridge. Actually, I'll let you in on a little secret, we have 3 Flat Boyd's) if he wanted to join me? and of course he said yes, because we had such a great time the other day.

We came upon this "Trail Closed" sign early on the trail.  I'm sure I heard Flat Boyd groan out his disappointment, as did I.  However, it pays to stop to take pictures of Flat Boyd because right after I snapped this picture I asked the guy in the truck if he knew "how long the trail will be closed?"  He said "until now!" and he took the sign down and off we went.  Here's another little secret, yes, I enjoy my road bike but I'm slightly afraid of riding on the road.  I don't want to get hit by a car!

The trail had been closed because they were "spraying the fraggs"??  I've never heard of fraggs, but the trail had more bugs today, dang fraggs!  It was cool to see the helicopter, though we tried not to breathe right where they were spraying.  It was easier for Flat Boyd to hold his breath than it was for me.

In the distance you can see the fragg chopper.  What a beautiful day it is, even with fragg killer in the air.  I'm just trying to see how many times I can say 'fragg'.  I'm not even sure if that's what he said, I googled fragg and didn't see any little bugs.  I'm really going add that to my vocabulary on the regular.  I think I can substitute it for one of my 'helping verbs'.

We saw a real ass!  I'm pretty sure it was "reared" in Utah (look closely at it's rear).  hahahaha This is the kind of internal dialog that goes on in my head, sad but true.

I wanted to let Flat Boyd go golfing, but I don't golf.  I have been a handful of times and could even sometimes hit the teeny, tiny ball.  I also learned that golf carts can indeed tip over.  For the record I was not in said golf cart, a friend was.  Hopefully someone else will take Flat Boyd golfing.  The weather is so nice, it's great to be out.

Zoom in and check out that cool turbine!  I got to thinking about how much I love technology and smart people that give us technology.  How much has your life changed because of technology?  I like to tell my kids about not having cel phones, we had to be at home or somewhere with a land line and pick the phone up off the wall, or (gasp) rotary dial!  Does anyone remember wearing penny loafers and putting dimes in them incase you need to make a call in a phone booth?  Our wikipedia was a huge volume of books called encyclopedias.  Anyway, turbines are really cool!  Flat Boyd wanted to get closer to the turbines and luckily the trail takes you right up close.

Probably too close, because before we got this close he had hair!  It just blew him away!

A few (steep for me) hills later, we reached our goal!  Honestly I got off the bike and walked up one hill... in cycling shoes... on asphalt... I never said I'm very smart.  When I hopped back on the bike and started pedaling again I wondered at my intelligence, it was easier than walking.  Lol, you live, you learn.

This trail is really long, and we did such a little bit of it. We went from Utah Lake to Salt Lake County, that's pretty good Flat Boyd!  If I don't say so myself.

I just don't really have anything to say about the "Jordan Narrows Diversion Dam and Cannals".  I thought I would when I took the pictures, but now... I've got nothin'.  It's got history and it's pioneer-y, so it's really cool, but I've got nothin'.

Look under this bridge about midway you can see a rope dangling.  Flat Boyd and I really, really wanted to swing and jump from it and make a big old splash!  It was hot and we were pedaling hard.  Flat Boyd is laminated and I'm water resistant up to 50 meters.  But alas, we did not.  I hope someday we will be daring enough because I think it would be really fun.  Maybe I'm not old enough yet to be that daring?  We saw fishes jumping, why couldn't we jump?  Surely we're older than the fish?  Well, I'm older than the fish.  Flat Boyd is only, what? a few weeks old?  So he probably isn't.

When we got home the sprinklers were on, and we were hot and sweaty.  I looked at Flat Boyd and he looked at me (because I was holding him, and he had no choice in the matter) and off we went to run through the sprinklers like loons.  Look at our faces, they even look like loons!  (I realize Flat Boyd's face stays the same, I'm just using my imagination here.)

I had another great adventure with Flat Boyd.  I love taking him with me and being 'unplugged'.  I don't listen to music or anything while I'm adventuring with Flat Boyd.  I'm thinking and taking photos.  My thoughts come from a different perspective and I'm so thankful for the paradigm shift.

*** A note to Boyd ***
Boyd,

You have taught me that "life is beautiful!" I have interpreted that to mean to take advantage of every moment you have! To enjoy life to it's fullest!  To enjoy the beauty in everything, in everyone, in every moment we have.  When I'm out with Flat Boyd, this is what I'm reminded of.  I think in our everyday chores it's easy to be pulled into the everyday humdrum thinking and we don't remind ourselves that life really is beautiful and it is unique, through each of us.  I want to make a habit of reminding myself every single day how beautiful life is.  You taught me this beautiful lesson in a very dark and difficult time of my life.  I'm so grateful to you.
